A tragic accident at the Na Uyana Monastery in Pansiyagama, Melsiripura, has claimed the lives of seven theros. The tragedy occurred when a cable car, carrying a total of 13 theros, collapsed. Among the victims are two Russian monks and one Cambodian monk.
